Tamara Kurkiewicz is a Polish percussionist and performer based in Stuttgart. As a musician dedicated to contemporary music, she values close collaboration with composers and aims to bring a personal flair to every piece she engages with. In her projects and repertoire choices, the integration of performative elements and extramusical context plays a particularly important role. As both an interpreter and concert designer, she continues to explore artistic means of expression, engaging with feminist perspectives and broader societal themes.

Tamara has collaborated with numerous composers, including Isabel Mundry, Robin Hoffmann, Agata Zubel, Jagoda Szmytka, and Hannes Seidl, as well as ensembles such as Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensemble, shIft ensemble, Les Percussions de Strasbourg and Trio Abstrakt. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed at festivals such as the Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music, Internationales Digitalkunst Festival in Stuttgart, the CODES Festival of Traditional and Avantgarde Music in Bydgoszcz, Klangspuren Schwaz, and Heidelberger Frühling. In 2018, she received the main prize at the 12th Polish Competition of 20th and 21st Century Music for Young Performers in Radziejowice. She is also a laureate of the 10th International Percussion Competition in Fermo, the 13th International Vibraphone Competition in Opole, and the 2nd Polish Percussion Competition in Poznań. In 2024, she was awarded a scholarship from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg.

She has received coaching from musicians such as Håkon Stene, Christian Dierstein, Rainer Römer, and Jennifer Torrence at courses including the Internationale Klangspuren Schwaz Ensemble Modern Sommerakademie, the Internationale Ensemble und Komponistenakademie für zeitgenössische Musik in Graz, and the Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt. She graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw under the guidance of Miłosz Pękala and Henryk Mikołajczyk. In 2023, she completed her MA in Neue Musik postgraduate studies with distinction, mentored by Marta Klimasara and Klaus Dreher at HMDK Stuttgart, where she is currently pursuing her Konzertexamen degree.
